NEW DELHI — Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva has expressed strong support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi following his address to the nation, while criticising opposition parties over the failure of the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha.
Speaking in Delhi, Sachdeva said that the Prime Minister clearly stated that a serious wrong had been committed by the Congress and other opposition leaders by not allowing the bill to pass. He said the bill was an important step toward increasing women’s participation in India’s democratic system.
Sachdeva added that the Prime Minister has shown strong commitment to women’s empowerment and has assured the country that efforts will continue to ensure the bill is passed in the future. He said that although the bill did not pass this time, the government remains determined to bring it into effect.
He further said that the opposition’s actions have delayed an important reform that aims to provide 33 percent reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies. According to him, such reforms are necessary to ensure equal representation and inclusive development.
Referring to the Prime Minister’s speech, Sachdeva said it reflected determination and clarity. He stated that the government will continue working toward empowering women and overcoming political obstacles.
He also mentioned that women across the country are closely watching these developments and will support efforts that promote their rights and representation in politics.
His statement comes at a time when political debate has intensified following the failure of the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha. Both the ruling party and opposition have blamed each other for the outcome.
Sachdeva said that the government remains committed to passing the Women’s Reservation Bill and will continue to push for it despite opposition resistance.
