Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has strongly criticised opposition parties following the failure of the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha, alleging that their actions reflect a lack of respect for women.
Speaking in Delhi, Meghwal said that the opposition did not want to acknowledge or respect what he described as “women power,” and accused them of blocking a significant step toward enhancing women’s representation in governance.
He stated that by opposing the bill, the opposition has committed a “sin against mother power,” referring to women across the country.
The Union Minister further alleged that political motives were behind the opposition’s stance. According to him, the bill was opposed not on substantive grounds but to deny credit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He claimed that the opposition’s primary intention was to prevent the Prime Minister from receiving recognition for the initiative.
Meghwal also warned that the public, particularly women voters, would take note of the developments and respond in the future.
He said that the people of the country “will not forgive” those who opposed the bill, suggesting potential electoral consequences.
