Speaking during his visit to New Delhi, Dr. Douglas emphasized the importance of establishing resident diplomatic missions, calling them a defining milestone in bilateral relations. “The establishment of a resident diplomatic mission in another country has long been regarded as one of the most significant achievements in bilateral relations,” he stated, highlighting the strategic intent behind such moves.
He further elaborated that the presence of a diplomatic mission goes beyond ceremonial value. “It represents a very clear intention to move from dialogue to delivery, translating shared priorities into practical cooperation,” he said, indicating a shift towards actionable collaboration between the two nations.
The relationship between Saint Kitts and Nevis and India has steadily strengthened over more than four decades. “This partnership has flourished over 41 years of diplomatic engagement,” Dr. Douglas noted, pointing to consistent cooperation in areas such as development, education, and capacity building.
Recent engagements between the two countries have focused on expanding cooperation in sectors like healthcare, renewable energy, digital infrastructure, and climate resilience—areas that are increasingly central to global partnerships.
