Sivasagar, Assam, India

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Pawan Khera, alleging that he is evading law enforcement amid an ongoing controversy.

Speaking in Sivasagar, Sarma claimed that Khera had left Guwahati and was no longer traceable at his known locations. “He ran away from Guwahati yesterday. I have come to know through the media that the police have gone to his residence in Delhi, but he has run away to Hyderabad,” the Chief Minister said, intensifying the political confrontation.

He further emphasized that legal proceedings would continue irrespective of political developments. “The law will take its own course,” Sarma asserted, signaling that authorities are actively pursuing the matter.

The remarks come amid heightened tensions between the ruling party and the Congress, with the issue gaining political traction across states. According to developments surrounding the case, law enforcement agencies have been making efforts to locate Khera in connection with statements that have sparked controversy and drawn strong reactions from the BJP.

Sources indicate that the situation has triggered a wider political debate, with BJP leaders demanding accountability and strict legal action, while Congress leaders have pushed back, terming the developments as politically motivated.

The episode has added to the ongoing exchange of sharp rhetoric between the two parties, further intensifying the political climate. Leaders on both sides have been vocal, turning the issue into a larger confrontation over governance, freedom of speech, and the role of investigative agencies.

Sarma’s strong remarks underscore the seriousness with which the state leadership is approaching the issue, as the matter continues to unfold with both legal and political implications in the days ahead.
