PM Modi Emphasizes Citizen-Centric Governance as Karmayogi Sadhana Saptah 2026 Begins Nationwide !!

(New Delhi) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Karmayogi Sadhana Saptah as the nationwide initiative commenced from April 2 to April 8, 2026, focusing on strengthening governance through capacity building and continuous learning. The programme is being conducted under Mission Karmayogi and the Capacity Building Commission, aiming to enhance the efficiency and responsiveness of public institutions.

The inaugural session in New Delhi was also addressed by Dr. P. K. Mishra, highlighting the importance of institutional development and skill enhancement among public servants.

During his address, the Prime Minister reiterated the vision of building a developed India and stressed the need for coordinated progress across sectors. “To realize the dream of a developed India, we need fast economic growth, modern infrastructure, technology, and a skilled workforce,” he said, outlining the core pillars of development. He also highlighted the importance of responsibility among public servants, urging them to work with dedication and a sense of purpose. According to him, improving governance is not only about policies but also about the attitude and commitment of those implementing them.

He emphasized that public servants play a critical role in achieving this vision and must align their efforts with the aspirations of citizens. “India is aspirational today, and it is our responsibility to fulfil these dreams,” he stated. The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of improving ease of living and quality of life. “Governance should be such that ease of living and quality of life continuously improve. This is our challenge,” he said, stressing the need for effective and result-oriented governance.

A key focus of the initiative is continuous learning and capacity building. Various organisations, including public sector entities, are actively participating in the programme. Employees are being encouraged to engage in structured learning through digital platforms and enhance their skills.

As part of the initiative, participants are encouraged to complete a minimum of four hours of learning during the Saptah through the iGOT Karmayogi platform, reinforcing the importance of self-improvement and professional development. The Prime Minister also emphasized modernization of governance systems. “It is essential to update public services as the country advances in this changing world,” he noted, underlining the role of technology in transforming public administration.

Reaffirming the citizen-first approach, he said, “The guiding principle of governance is ‘Nagrik Devo Bhav’,” highlighting that governance must remain focused on serving people effectively.

He further called for a shift in mindset from authority to responsibility. He stressed that true impact is achieved when governance is guided by duty and service, leading to meaningful institutional transformation. The nationwide observance of Karmayogi Sadhana Saptah reflects a collective effort to build a more capable, responsive, and citizen-focused governance system for the future.
